A Chance to Donate

“Then one time, a co-teacher at school asked me if I can donate for a cause…Syempre, at first I was hesitant pero naisip na mas maraming tao ang nangangailangan than my family. So kahit di masyado malaki, ayon, nag donate pa rin ako.”
I am a Chemical Engineer by profession and currently a College Instructor at Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod. I am an only child with both parents now at the age of 71. Yes, senior citizen na po at medyo may dinaramdam na rin. Since the COVID outbreak, classes had already been cancelled. And since wala pa akong Masters Degree, di pa ako permanent employee ng school, kaya wala rin akong sahod. My savings? Di sya kalakihan. It’s a struggle to stretch all of these until everything goes back to normal. At first, I was planning to look for a job, para pang gastos dito sa bahay. But I was thinking, “Pano if mahawa ako sa labas? What will happen to my parents if mahawa ko rin sila?” So, engk, cancelled. No choice but pagkasyahin ang meron ako. Then one time, a co-teacher at school asked me if I can donate for a cause. They were starting to give to those who are really in need. Syempre, at first I was hesitant pero naisip na mas maraming tao ang nangangailangan than my family. So kahit di masyado malaki, ayon, nag donate pa rin ako. And I was happy that they were able to give those food packs, di nga lang ako nakasama kasi safety pa rin ng parents iniisip ko. I really have so many fears of how our family will cope if this continues, but I also know that there are more people who are struggling more than us. Kaya tulungan na lang! We can do this!
